Twitter Meet Up Pune' 09

More the 65 tweeples meet at Cafe Coffee Day on Fergusson Road on 7th Feb 09.

I(vishal gadkari) and amit reached CCD at 6.50 pm. We came directly from POCC meet. When we reached 10-12 tweeples were already present at CCD with them was Mr.Anupam Saraf CIO pune. Its was a twitter meet and how can it happen without live tweets . I and aman immediately started with live tweets from CCD.

CCD has provided us with seperate space for the meeting and slowly it was getting crowded. By that time Pune Mirror correspondent  were taking some snaps as well as interview.

DNA and Indian Express correspondent did not turned up.  At 7.30 bhavya started with introduction and the line I wanted to meet my followers and the ones I follow personally because they’ve helped me a lot was the best and very true even from my point of view. Because we follow other and others follow us but face to face we don’t know each other and this meetings one objective was meet your followers and following.

After bhavya’s  intro about the event its was 3 words introduction of every attendees. CCD announced Valentine’s Day menu discounts for all the attendees. People from Pune,nasik,mumbai,chennia and others part of country were present at the meeting. After 3 words intro, was celebrity tweeters sessions ( celebrity tweeters are the most followed or are the people who’s tweets are the most informative ).

Rohan Dighe shared his own experience of Getting Business through twitter.

Anupam Saraph spoke about “Tweeting for Pune” and also PuneWiki. Traffic updates in pune are now available on twitter (Just follow Pune_traffic). SadakMap has recently launched a twitter layer for its map-based application so that people can geo-tag their tweets. Sahil Khan announced the launch of GreenPune.org, a social initiative by TheTossedSalad.com and its presence on twitter, where it shall cover the steps the government, corporate and individuals are taking to the city greener and to compare and implement green activities happening in other cities.

Rohan came up with an idea of providing information regarding bus routes. Imagine just sending a tweet to a particular user and getting a reply back in the form of bus number, timing and bus route.

Tweeples had ordered drinks and snacks at CCD (Pay for your own drink and snacks) which was served during the sessions were on . After sessions everyone got split up in small groups and were busy with there discussions.

Ashish Mohta had come all the way from Chennai especially for the event. He suggested that all the tweetups around Indian should come together on one site and gather all the information, ideas and thoughts.

Myself, aman were sending live tweets of  the meet till the end of the event. Sahil was jotting down every thing as he was substitute journalist for Indian Express and DNA. He was going to send the article to DNA and Indian Express.

When the it was time to pay for the cold coffee which i ordered i was shocked, they charged me 107 bucks for cold coffee and said its a Valentine’s Day discount price. I paid as i had gain alot from tweeter meet. Now we’ll thinks 1000 times whether to host the meet at CCD next time.

The Twitter Meet Up was over by 9.15 after that Rohan,Mangesh,Amit,Shardul,Sandip,Tara and myself had a small discussion on Joomla day which will be held on 12 April’ 09. The First ever Joomla day in India.

We all left CCD at 9.50 .
