Today my company had organized a blood donation camp in our office campus. We donated our blood to Navjivan Blood Bank Thane. This was the first ever time i donated my blood.
When i reached office i saw a the blood donation van parked in our parking area. I had totally forgotten about the blood donation camp (even after the reminder mail). I was not sure whether i can donate blood as i had an accident just 2 days back. When i entered the office i came to know that they have started collecting blood and first one to donate was our boss. I had skipped the breakfast as i was in hurry so when i made up mind to donate blood i first ate some biscuits , had tea. To be frank i was bit in tension as i had heard people fainting, feeling terribly weak after donating blood.
After filling form i enter in the van they first took a blood sample to check my blood group. I showed them my left hand which was injured during the accident , so they suggested me to give blood from right hand. The guy asked me to sleep and gave me a pressure ball and ask me keep pumping the ball while the blood was getting collected in the bottle. It took around around 6-7 min to collect 350 ml of blood in that bottle. After that they gave me frooti to drink and asked me to sit for a while. Everyone who donated blood where give a certificate, a bowl set and a card which will help me and any 5 family members to get one unit of blood upto one year.
Around 30+ people from our office donated blood. I am very glad that i did something for the mankind.

Good goin yaar… even I donated blood at a camp in my company, day before yesterday. It always leaves with a deep sense of satisfaction’. They are your 2 cents for ‘the greater good’.
Hey Mohit,
Gr8 to here that u to donated blood. This was my first time and i really felt gr8 after donating blood. A sense of satisfaction as u say.
But then found out some negative points in blood donation. My next post will be based on that.
Frooti truly is the best source of instant energy after donating blood …..
Totally agree sheetal, frooti was the energy booster after donating blood.
I remember my mom telling me to donate blood every time she read something about it, or heard someone do it and I would always promise her every time and ending up not donating in the end..i wasn’t scared of fainting or feeling weak, it was a pure case of being lazy and not having the drive to do something for someone. one day a friend of mine met with an accident and lost a lot of blood, thankfully the hospital had enough supply for such an emergency and its because of all those medical camps that are organized by blood banks and NGO’s, that night i realized what a fool i was not donating blood. A couple of days later i went to a blood donation camp (http://www.jaagore.com/event/blood-donation-camp) and donated and i m not joking, it felt good.
Pratik,
Sometime time teaches us a lot, and that the case with you. Some lessons in life we learn because of the circumstances. Hope you will keep donating blood after every 3 months.
it is really great satisfaction by donating boood.
