26 November 2008 , the unforgettable day in the history of India and an unimaginable day for mumbaikars. The day when the financial capital was attacked by terrorist, when Mumbai lost its top officers.
Terrorists, who entered the Mumbai through the waterways attacked different parts of the city including the busy Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Leopold Café, Cama Hospital, took several people hostage in two most luxurious hotel of the city, Taj Mahal and hotel Oberoi, Nariman house was also attacked by these terrorist. The battle which last for more than 50 hrs was won with the help of NSG commandoes. There was a massive loss in this win as a total of 173 people including the top cops Vijay Salaskar ( Senior Police Inspector and encounter specialist ), Ashok Kamte (Mumbai Police Commissioner), Hemant Kerkare (Joint commissioner ATS), Major Unnikrishnan were killed by the terrorist.
A Year has passed now but still the attack and its memory are still fresh in everyone mind. But still no one feels safe as the government has not at all taken any serious step to stop this terrorism. The promises made after the attacked are not yet fulfilled. The compensations to the family’s of death and injured are yet to be give. Our policeman can still be seen holding a wooden stick to fight against terrorism whereas the terrorist are high-tech. They use Ak 47, satellites phone and we still don’t have high-tech instruments to fight against them.
We spend lakhs and lakhs on the terriorst like Ajmal Kasab but not a single penny on the countries security. Don like Abu Salem is given VIP treatment inside the jail and police and other men in uniform are treated like untouchables. Instead of spending that money on terrorist and Don’s they should used for upgrading the security systems. Sometimes I feel like half of our countries security strength is wasted on the political leaders.
People of Mumbai are now used to this terror but still there are many who’ll hope that the incident would act as an eye opener and our government and police would be on toes to fight against terrorism.
Hope that the people who scarifies their life for the country and the innocent people who died in the attack get justices.

The article is very moving!!! I agree with your points, views. Yes, we are not safe and unsure if any new terror will strike again. Hope the bloody terrorism is put to end somehow permanently and the flag of peace will be hoisted again.
